Meet the Staff (aka The Winters)
Justin and Maria Winters enter their tenth year leading the Phoenixville Boys Cross-Country Program. Officially, Justin serves as the head coach while Maria serves as the "nonpaid-volunteer-part-time-assistant-to-the-assistant-tier-two-intern" (a promotion from titles in recent years).
Justin and Maria have been married for ten years and currently reside on Grant Street in Phoenixville. Of course, that wasn't always the case. Justin and Maria both grew up and met in the Pocono area - not the nice, resort-style Poconos you're thinking of - rather the gritty, tough, poor spot. In 2010, Maria and Justin moved to the Philadelphia area - specifically Phoenixville - so Maria could pursue her PhD at Bryn Mawr College. Despite falling in love with Phoenixville, Justin and Maria made the difficult decision in 2014 to relocate so Maria could become a full-time professor at York College. They bought a house in Mount Joy, PA. They planted vegetables. Bought homemade furniture. Lived amongst the Amish. Tried really hard to fit in. And in less than a month, they realized they made the worst decision ever. They spent the rest of 2014 and the first half of 2015 working to get back to Phoenixville. Maria got a new job. Justin found a new house. And they've vowed to never leave again.
Justin and Maria have been competitive runners for the majority of their lives, running in HS, at the collegiate level, and currently in a post-collegiate capacity where they one day hope to qualify for the Olympic Trials - in something running related. Both are intensely passionate about running and competing, an attitude they hope to instill in their runners on a daily basis. Running has done a great deal for both of them - including serving as the means by which Justin worked up the courage to ask Maria on their first date while in college.
Justin teaches Chemistry at Phoenixville Area HS - a job he enjoys profusely. Maria is officially "Dr. Winters" now - having her PhD in Organic Chemistry and is a professor at Gwynedd Mercy University. They both enjoy dining at the G-Lodge after weekend long runs, following the international running scene, and partaking in all things Phoenixville (especially the weekly Farmers Market). They have one child - Charles - who will turn 7 this September! Charlie also enjoys running (when it's not too hot of course), flying through the air to catch frisbees, backpacking, eating the inserts of running shoes, driving Justin crazy, making Maria happy and whimpering when bored.

Meet the Staff (aka Matt Chia)
Matt Chiappetta (aka Coach Chia), enters his sixth year as Assistant Coach for the Phoenixville Boys Cross-Country team. A Class of 2014 Phoenixville graduate, Matt served as the captain of the cross-country and track teams and was a key driving force in helping to transform the culture and performance of PHX distance running. Matt was a state qualifier in cross-country and remains one of Phoenixville's most distinguished runners. Matt recently received his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Penn State University. Matt now works at Phoenixville High School as an instructional aide - and the team could literally not be more proud. In his spare time, Matt enjoys comic conventions, Star Wars memes, training for American Ninja Warrior and the 6 Hour Relay, fantasy sports, setting new hairstyle trends, buff chick hoagies, saving the bees from extinction and is a Jarrett Stidham fanboy.
